Vinifera 2019 – The Market Exhibition
In the second edition of the Market Exhibition, the number of participating winemakers increased from 50 to 70.
Producers from Trentino, Alto Adige/South Tyrol, and the entire Alpine region offered their wines for sale and tasting at the Trento Fair, alongside artisanal food producers and a catering service active during the two days of the Market Exhibition.
At the tasting stands, visitors experienced the excellence of wine production from the alpine and pre-alpine regions, reflecting the characteristics of the land, the harvest years, and the commitment of the producers.
The second edition of the Vinifera Market Exhibition was held on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Conferences, workshop, and debates at the Exhibition Hall
The bottle-fermented or lees-fermented method is a technique found throughout Italy: from Conegliano Prosecco to Emilia’s Lambrusco and Bonarda from Oltrepò Pavese. With Gianpaolo Giacobbo, we will discover the natural sparkling wines from the Alpine Arc: wines that stand out, capable of taking the risk of not being liked but with an irresistibly unique character.
12:30 PM | The Upside-Down Wine and the Geosensory Tasting
Matteo Gallello, editor and head of educational organization at Porthos, presents “Il vino capovolto” (Porthos Edizioni, 2017, Rome). The essay is divided into two parts: “The Geosensory Tasting” by Professor Jacky Rigaux and “Other Writings” by Sandro Sangiorgi. The presentation will be followed by a tasting of four wines through which we will practically explore the meaning of geosensory tasting.
14:30 PM | The Potential and Limits of Resistant Grape Varieties
A double session focused on the future of European viticulture. Genome editing and cis-genesis: new methods to obtain vines resistant to major diseases? Led by Claudio Moser (Edmund Mach Foundation). Vine breeding for more sustainable viticulture, led by Marco Stefanini (Edmund Mach Foundation).
16:00 PM | Discovering Alpine Fermentations

12:00 PM | ALTrA quota: Mountain cheeses and mountain wines
A tasting focused on alpine cheeses: raw milk dairy products, milked and processed on high-altitude pastures, following an ancient tradition that connects all the regions across the entire Alpine Arc. A “red thread” that links the Alpine regions, accompanied by wines from the producers present at the Exhibition. The tasting will be guided by Francesco Gubert and Michele Girelli.
14:30 PM | The New Winemakers: A Look at the Future of the Trentino-Alto Adige Wine System
A profession for young people? Many of the excellences present at Vinifera are produced by young and very young winemakers. Francesco De Vigili (Trentino winemaker, member of the board of directors of the Trentino Winemakers Consortium) and Peter Robatscher (director of Freie Weinbauern Südtirol) will be speaking.
15:30 PM | The Story of a Pure Wine: Vertical Tasting of Perciso.
The Dolomitici present “Il Perciso.” Perciso originates in Avio, from a vineyard planted in the early 20th century and restored after more than 100 years. Here, there are 727 vines of Lambrusco with jagged leaves, grown on double-pergola systems with ungrafted rootstocks. The Dolomitici decided to preserve this vineyard, collaborating in the production of a wine that expresses the essence of this ancient variety and the flavor of the land in which it takes root.
18:00 PM | Awarding oh the “La Picca d’Oro” Prize of Vinifera to Malga Ribelle
